British Shakespeare Association Conference

Lancaster University, 24th - 26th February.

The British Shakespeare Association Conference is fast approaching (end of this week to be precise!) and we are rather excited as, not only as we attending, but the authors of Shakespeare and I will be presenting a panel on the book and its distinctive themes and arguments.

For those of you who don't know, Shakespeare and I is the latest book in our series, due for UK publication at the end of March. Written by William McKenzie and Theodora Papadopoulou, it is a provocative exploration of how the self is revealed or exposed in the experience of reading, viewing and writing about Shakespeare. A number of the most exciting and authoritative writers on Shakespeare examine and scrutinise their deepest, most personal and intimate responses to Shakespeare’s plays and poems, to ask themselves if and how Shakespeare has made them the person they are. Their responses include autobiographical histories, reflections on their relationship to their professional, institutional or familial roles and meditations on the person-making force of religious or political conviction.

Although this book doesn't publish until the 29th March, we have 10 advance copies that we will be selling at the conference next week - at a 25% discount! We will be sharing our stand with Arden Shakespeare so make sure that you pop over before all copies sell out. We will of course have all of our books in the Shakespeare Now! series on show, including the critically acclaimed Nine Lives of William Shakespeare and Philippa Kelly's The King and I.
